What QuickenBrain is

QuickenBrain is a free mental gym for spatial reasoning, reading, memory, attention and math, with 248 short practices, 216 lessons and 18 guides across the site. Practices are available across 9 languages; the selection of practices, lessons and tests varies by language.

QuickenBrain has practices, short lessons and guides for spatial reasoning, memory, attention, math, geometry, reading and language, reasoning and music. Lessons, guides and reading passages are free to read. Without an account you get 3 practice rounds a day; with a free account you practice without limits. Exam practice tests require membership. A free account also keeps your progress on every device, and opens the all-round and area tests with saved results and reviews, the guided programs, the reading questions, Today’s timed set and the Weekly Aptitude Test. A membership opens the full exam practice tests in the test-preparation programs. Its monthly plan starts with 3 days free.

The site is in 9 languages: English, Korean, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, and Dutch. English has every practice. Practice and lesson availability varies by language; links to English-only content are labeled.

QuickenBrain is for adults of every age, and later in life it can be a gentle routine for every day.

Who makes QuickenBrain

QuickenBrain is made by Studio AM, an independent studio owned and run by Hyunsik. Studio AM builds the practices, writes the lessons and guides, and reads the mail. You can reach us at contact@studioam.art.

Choose something to try

Choose a practice and pick a difficulty. Today's practice gives everyone the same three practices each day.

How the practices are made

We build every practice here ourselves. Questions come from our own generators and question banks, apart from the outside material named below, and each question carries its answer key. Your answer is marked against that key, not against a guess.

Where a page says a puzzle has exactly one answer, as Sudoku, Calcudoku and the Eight queens puzzle do, a solver proves it before the puzzle is shown. If the solver finds a second way to finish, that puzzle is never dealt.

Where a practice uses material we did not make, we say where it comes from. Most reading passages were written for Studio AM's reading app, and a few are public-domain excerpts. The jigsaw pictures are open-access works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and one NASA image. The checkmate positions come from the Lichess puzzle database, which is free for any use.

Before a practice goes live, we review it and test it in a browser. Automated checks run again on every change. Each practice has a short lesson, written together with it, that shows one method, works an example and lets you try it. The lessons are in the Library.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help write and translate lessons, guides, explanations and reading passages, and to help build the practices. Studio AM decides what goes on the site. Guides list the sources they draw on, and we check each guide against them. If something is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

What we do not claim

Scores describe the task you played. They are not an IQ score or a measure of overall intelligence. A real IQ score is a place in a large test sample, and the test is given the same way every time. A website has none of that. Here you get the score for the round you played. Once enough rounds have been played at the same settings, the statistics page for that practice shows where your latest round played without hints or shown answers falls among them.

QuickenBrain does not diagnose anything, and it does not promise any improvement. The guide Why this site does not give you an IQ number explains the reasons. The other guides explain what each test measures and where its research numbers come from. Each research claim in them links to its paper or public source.

For what the research says about practice and brain health, read What practice can and cannot do.

Your practice data

Your personal history, favorites and lesson progress stay in this browser. If you sign in, your account keeps a copy too, so they are the same on every device you sign in on. A guest profile keeps things together without signup. Community sharing is on by default when no preference is saved; saved choices are kept. New completed rounds contribute summaries to comparisons across the practices. You can turn sharing off in Data sharing in Account while keeping your personal statistics. These community contributions do not include nicknames, individual answers or drawings. Replayed shared rounds are not saved or submitted. Cloudflare hosts and protects the site.

Read our Privacy page for details about browser storage, submitted scores, request protection and your choices.

A free account takes the all-round and area tests, and members also take the exam practice tests. Your account saves the test questions, your answers and results for review. You can revisit saved all-round and area results in Progress.
