Other vs. another

The rule

"Another" is one word and goes with a singular noun: "another cup". Use "other" with plural or uncountable nouns: "other people", "other information". "The other" means the remaining one you both know about.

Wrong and right

    Right Can I have another cup of coffee?

  2. Wrong Some tests passed; another tests failed.

    Right Some tests passed; other tests failed.
