Add each pair of digits

The pair to add is marked in the row and named above it. The mark moves one place right each time you type.

Help

This is the continuous addition task from the Uchida Kraepelin test (内田クレペリン検査). Many people in Japan take that test for a job or a license. The real test is 15 rows of one minute, a break, then 15 more.

This page is a place to get used to the pace. It is not the scored test. Nothing here is a result an employer would accept.

The digits here are 3 to 9, so more sums pass ten than in the real test.

Your numbers say how many pairs you added in these rows on this day, and how many you got wrong. They do not measure your ability, your character or your fitness for a job.

Level 1 is 3 rows of 30 seconds. Level 2 is 5 rows of 45 seconds. Level 3 is 8 rows of 60 seconds. Level 4 is 15 rows of 60 seconds, which is the first half of the real test.

About this practice

How to play

If you lose your place, take the marked pair and go on from there.

Only the last digit matters, so you never carry. Keep the same pace from the start of a row to the end of it.

Wrong answers are not shown while a row runs, the same way the real test does not show them. They are counted and reported at the end.

Finish every row to save a result in this browser. A round you end early is not saved. Leaving this tab ends the round.

The keys 0 to 9 answer the current pair. The buttons below the row do the same thing. Press Escape or End to stop the round.

Your result is kept in this browser only. It is not sent anywhere unless you choose to compare it.
