Two-hand tracing

Trace two shapes at once with a finger of each hand, or one at a time with a mouse.

Example

Example

Start at each round dot and follow both lines to their ends. The arrows show the way.

For a touch screen: one finger of each hand, both shapes at the same time.

Mirror images of one smooth shape.

4 pairs · No time limit · About 3 minutes

Go at your own pace. Only how close your line stays is measured, never the time.

Help

Put a finger on each round dot and follow the lines to their ends. The arrow next to each dot shows the way. You can lift a finger and carry on.

Easy: mirror images of one smooth shape. Standard: two different smooth shapes. Challenge: two different shapes with corners and more turns.

Two fingers at once suits a phone or a tablet. One shape, then the other suits a mouse or one finger. One larger shape gives one shape at a time.

A shape is traced to the end when your line has passed close to almost all of it. Finish this pair moves on at any time.

About this practice

Two-hand tracing is a practice in moving both hands at once. On a touch screen you trace two shapes at the same time, one finger of each hand: mirror images first, then two different shapes. With a mouse you trace one shape at a time.

A line counts as close where it stays inside the soft band around the shape. After each pair you see your lines: solid where they stayed close and dotted where they went away.

Each round is set beside your own last round at the same level and mode, never beside anyone else’s.

Sit comfortably with your arms supported and rest whenever you like. Stop if your hands or wrists feel sore.

With a keyboard, press Tab to reach the shapes. In Two fingers at once, W A S D move the left pen and the arrow keys the right one; in the other modes the arrow keys move the pen. A pen draws while its keys are held.

The practice asks you to follow lines you can see, so it has no audio version. On a phone, turning it sideways gives the shapes more room.
