The rule

The verb agrees with the subject in number. A singular subject takes the -s form (he works); a plural subject does not (they work).

Wrong and right

  1. Wrong She go to school.

    Right She goes to school.

  2. Wrong The files is ready.

    Right The files are ready.

  3. Wrong Everyone have finished.

    Right Everyone has finished.

  4. Wrong The news are good.

    Right The news is good.

  5. Wrong One of my friends live here.

    Right One of my friends lives here.

    Right There are many reasons.
