Speed & work rates

Use distance, time and work per hour to find the exact answer.

Four speed questions and four work questions

Meeting times and combined work

Eight questions. No time limit.

Keep track of the units

Read the requested unit before answering. Travel and work rates stay constant under the conditions stated in each question.

At a constant 60 km/h, 30 minutes is 1/2 hour. The distance is 60 × 1/2 = 30 km.

How to play

Choose one of four answers. The answer locks when selected. Read the method, then choose Next question.

Distance = speed × time. Use matching time units. Average speed is total distance ÷ total time. For work, add fractions of a job per hour.

Choose an exact answer in the requested unit. Fractions are exact values; do not round. One job means the whole task.

Finish all eight questions to save a result in this browser. An unfinished round is not saved. Active time includes answers and review, but not background tabs. There is no time limit or speed bonus.

Use Tab and Enter or Space to choose an answer. Keys 1–4 also select answers, except when another control is focused.
