A symbol gets its digit from the key
The key pairs nine symbols with the digits 1 to 9. Find the current symbol in that key, then enter the digit printed beneath it.
The key stays visible during the round. It is reshuffled for a new round, so a digit you remember from an earlier round may no longer match.
Find the moon, then read its digit
The current symbol is the moon. In this key it is the third entry, and the digit below it is 3. Enter 3.
Use the pair shown in the key, not a number suggested by the shape. A star’s points, for example, do not determine its digit.
A new round has a new key
The moon is showing again, but this is a different key. Check the mapping before choosing a digit.
Try it
Which digit matches the moon in the new key?
- 3
- 1

1
Correct. The new key pairs the moon with 1. The shape is familiar, but the digit must come from the current round’s key.
