Remember a card and its place

Attach a rank and suit to each position instead of remembering only red or black.

Give each card its full name

Same rank, different suit. Say “seven of hearts” and “seven of diamonds”.

A card needs a rank and a suit. Seven of hearts and seven of diamonds are different cards, even though both are red sevens.

More

Attach that full name to its place: first, second, third. In Short rows, read left to right and then the next row. In Shuffled deck, follow the card-position number as you move through the deck.

Same rank, different suit. Say “seven of hearts” and “seven of diamonds”.

Keep name and position together

Here the order is ace of clubs, seven of hearts, king of diamonds. The seven of hearts belongs second, not merely somewhere in the row.

Short rows give you the studied cards in a shuffled tray. Tap them in order and fill every position before checking. Undo and Clear let you correct your answer.

In Shuffled deck, choose a position, then its suit and rank. Recall is untimed and you may leave blanks. In either mode, a point needs the right rank and suit in the right position.

The numbers below the cards are their positions, not their ranks.

Name the second card

Use both parts of the card name. Which card belongs in position 2 of this row?

4spades19diamonds22clubs3
Read from left to right. Check the suit as well as the rank.

Try it

Which card belongs in position 2?

  1. Nine of diamonds
  2. Nine of hearts
Show the answer

Nine of diamonds

Yes. The second card is the nine of diamonds. Both its name and its position match.
