Use the first pair of letters
Pick one target word. Scan for its first letter, then check the eight neighboring cells for its second letter.
That pair gives you a direction. Continue along the same row, column, or diagonal. A word can run backwards, but it cannot turn a corner.
In Clues mode, work out a possible word first. Check every letter against the grid before selecting it.
Check the whole line
The L in row 2, column 2 has an E one step down and right. Keep moving down and right: A follows, then F.
The four letters spell LEAF without a bend. Select the first and last letters, then choose Check. You can also select the same line from the other end.
Keep the direction unchanged
Find STAR starting at the outlined S in row 6, column 2.
Look for the next letter, then check whether the same direction gives you all four letters.
Try it
From the outlined S, which direction spells STAR?
- Diagonally up and right
- Right, then turn down
Show the answer
Diagonally up and right
Correct. From row 6, column 2, move up and right through T, A, and R. Every step follows the same diagonal.
